5 Tips to staying Motivated & Focused beyond January

For me routine is really important to staying consistent and staying motivated, if you start your day in the right way that will bode well for the remainder of the day, every morning I wake up at 6:00am, I try my very hardest to never hit snooze as I find this leads to a sluggish start to the day if I’m snoozing my alarm. It is really important to make sure you have a well balanced breakfast to start your day right, along with a glass of water to kickstart your metabolism. If you fail to have a breakfast you are denying your body the fuel it needs to begin the day.

Most people that are reading this i hope are looking for ways to stay motivated and consistent on their health & finess goals, firstly you need to set yourself a goal, then you need a plan of action to achieve this goal, for example you may want to start exercising 3 times a week and be able to fit in a size 10 pair of trousers, this is great but now you have your goal you now need to know what you need to do to achieve this. I would strongly recommend setting SHORT,MEDIUM,LONG TERM GOALS, write them down somewhere visible in day to day life and just have a glance at them when you need too, this will keep you on track and should give you the motivation you need when you are really lacking it.
If you are not confident enough pursuing the goals alone and would like pushing that bit further with the expertise and knowledge of a professional you may look into having some PT sessions, yes this comes at a cost but it’s all about making sacrifices for what you want most in life. It depends how much you want it!!

Take a look at people you are surrounded by, friends, work colleges, family members how do these people make you feel about your goals & targets?

This is something I believe in most, if you surround yourself with people that have a positive and passionate mindset, that are on the same wave length as you, working towards similar goals as you, share the same passions as you, will have a good laugh with you, encourage & support you, want the best for you, it will 100% benefit you having them in your life! But if you think about the people you spend most of your time with and they aren’t ticking those boxes maybe it’s time to spend a little less time with them and distance yourself as life is short and you have to be selfish about your own personal life and goals. You need to remember that not everyone will understand the sacrifices you are making and will question your ability to succeed, You need to use this as motivation and have a strong will power to prove the doubters wrong.

4 - Balanced & Interesting Diet.

Automatically when it gets to January people think after they over indulge at the festive period they need to go an a crash diet....WRONG!!! You are likely to loose a small amount of weight to begin with by consuming just a meal replacement drink however after a certain period of time you will struggle to maintain it as it tends to become rather boring and tasteless. Being healthy doesn't have to be boring at all in actual fact you can create some fantastic nutrious meals using some basic ingredients full of goodness and endless amounts benefits to you and your body. Its amazing what some good food and exercise can do to your body and your mind.

That feeling of putting on new clothes that make you feel good does wonders for your confidence and I can guarantee your more likely to exercise if you have that feel good feeling set within you and its likely you wont want this new found confidence to disappear anytime soon.

Also look after yourself it sounds simple but it’s effective when your looking to feel good in yourself and stay motivated and focused, regular haircuts, nice cologne/perfumes, clean clothes, keeping your house, room and car clean, being organised, I’m telling you now if you feel good about yourself you are more likely to be motivated to achieve more from life and better yourself further. The people closest to me often laugh at the fact i am always making sure things are organised and tidy. But the truth is i feel so much better for doing it than i would not. this is just a small piece in the lifestyle jigsaw to making me feel as good as possible.

The 5 points I’ve made are all things I believe in greatly and if you are not putting some of these into practise and find yourself lacking motivation in your fitness goals or life in general, give some of them a go and let me know if you would like some more help and advice with your training and nutrition.

Thanks for taking the time to read 2017's first blog, now lets start as we mean to go on.....beyond January!!
